Financial Aid
We are well into the
second semester now, so I thought it would be a good time to start thinking
about the future and planning for the next two to three years. A great place to
start is by filing your FAFSA for the 2016-2017 academic year. One significant change to this year’s
applications is that you will now need a FSA-ID instead of the pin that you
have used in previous years. The new FAFSA and access to your new FSA-ID are
available now at studentloans.gov
The Office of Financial Aid is also available to help you plan for your financial aid requirements. Located on the third floor next to admissions, financial aid is staffed by Ms. Keleigh Chumney and Ms. Cynthia Violet; they are both great resources to use when it comes to planning for you educational finances. Financial aid can also be reached via telephone at (614)236-6350. The office will be scheduling exit counseling (for loan repayment) in two sessions (with availability for day and evening students) on April 6, 2016. You can also schedule an appointment to meet with financial aid for one on one exit counseling.
Another resource for financing your education once you've completed your 1L year is through the endowed scholarship program. Unless otherwise noted, the application process for endowed scholarships begins in the spring semester of your 1L year and, if awarded, will apply to you tuition bill for fall and spring semesters of the following academic year. The determinative criteria may include one or more of several categories; diversity, practice interest, class level, etc. These scholarships are available to cover up to the total cost of tuition for your academic year and they are usually not fully utilized by students, so make sure to get your applications to the financial aid office when the email is released.
